IX° International Folklore Festival  "Bracciano's Castle"

     The history of Bracciano is all determined by the magnificent Castle whose sizes dominate all over the settlement. Due to its structural and architectonic characteristics and the excellent state of conservation it is considered one of the most important castles of Italy. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Bracciano. It was built in the 15th century, and combines the functions of a military defence structure and a civilian residence of the feudal lords of the period, the Orsini and Borgia, both papal families. As one of the largest and best-maintained castles in Italy, it also houses a museum; as a centre of cultural events, the Castello has hosted several high profile weddings. 

Dance, song and instrumental folklore ensembles are invited to participate in the Festival. . Born from a spontaneous need to awaken the essential values that have characterized our ancestors over the centuries, the 8 editions of the International Folklore Festival "Castle of Bracciano" have generated wide interest in the small town and it immediately received approval from the community.Transferring the secrets, traditions and customs from generation to generation  today tourism and daily life tend to rediscover the value of these ancient origins that depart from handicrafts and folk art to arrive at the traditional festivals and folk customs.


Participation fee:

- 170 Euro per person in hotel*** for 4 nights, 320 euro per person for 8 nights

- 155 Euro per person in hotel** for 4 nights , 270 euro per person for 8 nights

The participation fee includes:

- 4 or 8 days accommodation in 3 or 4-bed rooms, private bathroom with a shower and hot water

- 4 or 8 days half board /italian breakfast and dinner/

- Participation fee

- Support our coordinators during the festival

- Free parking for participants' vehicles

All the hotels are located in Bracciano.

For groups of 25 participants, 26th is serviced free of charge, for the groups with over 40 participants, 41st, 42nd and 43rd are serviced free of charge.


Within the framework of the Festival each ensemble is expected to be ready to take part in:

· Opening parade in the streets of the town

· Evening concerts - up to 10 - 15 minutes each.

· Meeting with the Mayor of Bracciano (for art directors and group's officials).

Every day the citizens of Bracciano and surrounding area will be entertained with concerts in the square, there will be organized meetings between the groups, games and lessons in folklore for the public, hoping to thus aid the preservation of folk culture and human relations between the countries.


Each participating group will be awarded a Honorary Diploma of Festival Participant, valuable souvenir and a gift, DVD with the film on the Festival events. The Festival’s activities will be covered in the broadcasts of the italian national and regional TV channels and radio stations, italian newspapers and magazines.
