“All colours of Art”

Fiuggi, Rome (25 - 29 July 2019)

Fiuggi is one of Europe's most important thermal centers, situated in the center of Italy, has perfectly preserved its rustic charm throughout the centuries, protecting the immense natural beauties from the risks of pollution. The thick chestnut woods are not just a great natural heritage, but also the best protection of its hydro-geological system. Located between Rome and Naples, Fiuggi enjoys an enviable climate. This small rural medieval village became known for its prodigious waters around the XII/XIII century, when its healing properties were investigated by Pope Boniface VIII himself, who, suffering from kidney stones and uremic poisoning, sent 51 convoys from Rome to bring him the prodigious liquid and recover from his illness. The great Michelangelo claimed that the waters of Fiuggi had relieved him of "the only kind of stone I couldn't love." Above the 20th century spa town known as Fiuggi Fonte, lies the picturesque town of Fiuggi Old town which, with its incredibly narrow medieval streets and alleys, is best visited on foot. The "Vicolo Baciadonne" is so narrow that pedestrians are obliged to pass within kissing distance of each other. Like all Italian spa towns, Fiuggi has lots of great shopping, and plenty of good restaurants serving healthy local food.

SIGHTSEEING

ROME - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Rome is a city steeped in history--from the rise and fall of the Roman Empire to the rebuilding of the great city during the Renaissance. Legend holds that Romulus and Remus founded Rome in 753 B.C. – the mythical image of the two brothers suckled by the she-wolf, other than the Colosseum, has become the iconographic symbol for the Capital. Home to works of art from such great masters as Raphael, Bernini, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, the city itself is a masterpiece of sculptures, fountains and churches. Rome offers visitors a rich blend of history, culture and art through such a multitude of venues and attractions that a single visit may not be enough.

NAPLES - UNESCO World Heritage Site

"See Naples and die" is an Italian saying of unknown origin and authorship. The idea of the proverb is that after one has seen Naples there is nothing else worth seeing, comparatively speaking. Extending over 720 hectares, the historic center of Naples is the largest historic center in all of Europe. Visiting Naples's historic center means traveling through twenty centuries of history. The design of its streets, piazzas, churches, monuments and public buildings and castles constitute a jewel box of artistic and historical treasures of exceptional importance, so much so that together, they earned their spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995.

ROYAL PALACE OF CASERTA - UNESCO World Heritage Site

A splendid palace, a gracious garden, and all the opulence you'd expect from a royal residence is found at the Palace of Caserta. It was built by King Charles when he took the throne of the Kingdom of Naples, wanting to establish a prestigious place that would be "fit for a Bourbon king". The magnificent mansion and gorgeous gardens were meant to rival the splendor of Versailles and act as a symbol of the new kingdom.
The Royal Palace at Caserta and its park, inserted as one of the 53 Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997, are treasures of truly incomparable splendor.
